WENDY IN ACTION
“In a biotech world that sometimes seems dominated by investors and fundraising, it was a heart opening experience to get to meet a human that might be on the receiving end of our hard work…it was truly special, by far the most motivational speaker we have had.”

ABOUT WENDY

“No one chooses to have hep B.
Since I do, how can I fully respond?”
Wendy
Advocate * Speaker * Consultant
After being diagnosed and living with chronic hepatitis B for nearly three decades, Wendy broke her silence by sharing her personal story openly. From patient turned advocate, she is on a mission to raise awareness, promote understanding, tackle stigma, influence policy and advance clinical research to fight the hepatitis epidemic, as well as to improve liver health. Her advocacy spans speaking appearances, consulting on patient engagement, community outreach, and activism for public health and policy changes.
Wendy is a motivational speaker who communicates with clarity, candor, and courage. From keynote speaker, panelist, media interviewee to community educator, she has spoken to diverse audiences that include biotech & pharmaceutical companies, medical societies, community-based organizations, media outlets, and the affected population.
Wendy aims to bridge the gap between medical research and the patient community by providing patient-centered insights in clinical research through the lens of an informed, first-person perspective.
Wendy supports the San Francisco Hep B Free in local community outreach. She is a storyteller and advisor for HepatitisBStories.org and a patient ambassador for Global Liver Institute. She serves as a contributing member with the following academic and non-profit organizations:
* Hepatitis B Foundation (HBF) HBV-HDV Community Advisory Board (CAB)
* American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD) Public Policy Committee
* University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Liver Patient Advisory Council
* Global Liver Institute (GLI) Patient & Scientific Advisory Council, and
* LiverWELL Lived Experience Advisory Committee (LEAC).

As a working mother living with chronic liver diseases including fatty liver (MASLD & MASH), Wendy has prioritized health and well-being to be her throughline. She is a health seeker who became a mindfulness practitioner, certified Functional Medicine health coach and ACE-certified personal fitness trainer. Bilingual in Chinese & English, she passionately supports others in their wellness journey through lifestyle interventions and the power of self-efficacy.
Wendy is also a seasoned educator and strategic thinker with business and technology acumen. Her previous career in the software industry spans 20+ years with roles in global education services, go-to-market strategy & execution, and information technology (IT) consulting at start-ups, mid-sized and large enterprise companies.
